Question:
can you tell me how large i should expect my incision to be (open rny)

Mine is exactly 3 inches long.

I expected 5-6 inches and ended up with 10 inches due to a hernia found after he opened me and scar tissue from my gall bladder removal.

my incision starts at my breast bone & goes all the way down to the very top of my belly button. i think it depends on ur surgeon's preference, how big or small his hands r & how much room he needs once he opens u up.

Mine is 7.5 inches long. I have pictures if you'd like to see. :)

It's an individual thing, everyone's is different. Ask your surgeon what they think. Mine started at the breastbone, goes down, around navel, and about 2 inches below. But I've seen those with alot shorter incision. I'm 11 months out of surgery....and my incision is very faint. After steri strips are removed at 2 week check up, start lotioning with cocoa butter with vitamin E, made a world of difference. jeanne

Mine also runs from just below the center of my breasts to just above my navel.

Hi Nikki. You can see a picture of my incision on my photo webpage. If you click on my name there is a link to my webpage on my profile. My incision is 9 inches long, which is longer than I thought it would be. I am 6 feet tall and have a long torso, so it doesn't quite reach my bellybutton. =)

My incision is 3 1/2 inches long.

My incision goes from 21/2 inches below my bra band to 11/2 inches below my belly button. It's about 61/2 inches long now.
