Hi: I know that there is a section of this site that lists support groups in all areas, but I am not sure where it is. Maybe someone else can help out on where to locate the support group listings, BUT, there is a support group in Riverside at Riverside Community Hosp. the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm....It is run by Dr. Terry Sanderfers office. Good and informative meeting each month. I have belonged to this group since I was 5 mos PRE OP and still go each month. If you have any questions you can e mail me at [email protected] Lets hope that someone else can tell us both where to locate the list of groups on this site.....THANKS IN ADVANCE ALL!!!

I see that your surgeon is Dr. Nazarian, good luck. I just had Open RNY w/him on 2/25/02 and life is good. He does have monthly support meetings, I know that one is in the Woodland Hills area, but I'll have to check my monthly flyer to see where the other two are. I wish you all the best!

Dr. Fobi in hawaiian Gardens has support group meetings about 3 times a month. They also have support groups in other southern california areas. The website to find out when is CSTOBESITY.com. Even if you don't have the Fobi pouch there is alot of good info for anyone looking inot surgery or even post op other types of surgery. I have the Fobi pouch and have a little over 20lbs to goal. I am 7 mo. post op. Good luck.

Dr. Peter LePort has support meetings every Monday night at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley and they welcome anyone who has had WLS or is thinking about it. You can check out his website at www.smartdimensions.com and click on "Support." The meetings are every Monday night from 6:30-8:30 PM (except holidays and 5th Mondays when they occur) and Dr. Diane LaMont who is a psychologist runs them. Most Monday evenings from 6-7:30pm at Western Medical Center on Tustin Avenue in Orange, CA This is a fairly large support group, a lot of nice people, and they try to cover something useful in the meeting.

Here's the link for the Western Medical Center support group: http://www.coastalobesity.com/PatientSupport/SupportGroupMeetings.htm I attended one of their seminars in February (when Al Roker was the guest speaker), and had my surgery April 11th (down 65 lbs - wahoo!) They are very organized, and I enjoyed the atmosphere tremendously. Best of luck!
