Does medicaid send out approval letters?

Does medicaid send out approval letters? Or call you? I never thought to ask my doctors assistant this! Or does the doctors office just call YOU when you are approved? TIA! Vicki    — Vicki R. (posted on August 24, 2002)

no medicaid does not send out approval letters. they just contact your doctor. it's when you recieve a letter from them you should worry becuase that is your denial notice. (this is for ohio - not sure if all states follow same regulations)

Illinois Medicaid DID send me a copy of the same "pre-authorization" letter they sent to my surgeon's office. In fact they accidently mailed me 2 separate copies! Good Luck - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -53lbs.
