Question:
HAS ANYONE TRIED MEDERMA FOR THEIR SCARS AND
IF SO HOW LONG AFTER SURGERY CAN YOU START USING IT? I WANT TO USE IT FOR MY INCISION SCAR BUT REALLY WANT IT FOR A LARGE SCAR ON MY NECK. I HAD AN I.V. THERE AND WHEN I SLEPT ON THAT SIDE OF MY NECK IT BECAME BLISTERED. IT HAS HEALED NOW AND I WOULD LIKE TO TRY AND HELP IT BECOME LESS NOTICEABLE. I started using Mederma about 3 weeks ago and could tell the difference
almost immediately. It has faded nearly all the flat spots of my scar
completely and the raised sections are much lighter. It has a money back
guarantee if you follow directions to the letter - rub in gently 3-4 times
a day. It is non-greasy and has a smell like my grandmother's old rose
water - brings back fond memories. It is fairly expensive ($29.99 at CVS
in Bham) but it takes very little to cover the scars and I was an open
revision so I not only have a large scar from this surgery but also another
one under neath form the old surgery. Old scars take longer to fade but
the new ones have really started fading fairly quickly. I had my surgery

I wish I had good news to report. I started to use Mederma at about 8 weeks
post-op. I used it for three weeks and actually saw some improvement. But,
I stopped using it in the third week because it was making the good skin
surrounding my scar peel like a sunburn. This worried me enought to stop
using the product. I know others just love Mederma - guess my skin is just
too sensitive to the ingredients in it.

I used Mederma at about 6 weeks post-op and used it for several months.
The box tells you for best results you have to use it for months, not
weeks. Even tho expensive, it takes a tiny amount to cover the scars. My
scars, at 7 months post-op have faded to either white or very lite brown.
They haven't disappeared but look soooo much better..was it the Mederma?
Would regular lotion have done as well? Who knows...but didn't hurt.
