Question:
Bariatric Program closed. What are my options?

The program where I had surgery closed because the hospital was bankrupt. I am almost 2 years post op and have done very well. Started at 350 and am 130 now.The program included 5 years of follow up care. Some of us have the same option with another hospital but others don't have this option. Most of these people are less than 6 months post and need the most support. What can they do?    — dianne E. (posted on September 6, 2004)

Most regular health clinics have a dietician, would start there and then my regular pcp for blood work etc. Best of luck and congrats on your success..

Your surgeon had to go somewhere to practice, I would find out where he has moved his practice, and make an appt, and see if he will still honor his patients. It isn't the hospital you need, it is the follow-up with your surgeon and maybe a nutritionist. Your pcp can handle your scripts for blood work.

Why don't you guys start your own support group? The suggestion to find out where the surgeon went is a good one too. good luck!
