i had my 3 week checkup this morning.  i have lost 19 lbs since surgery so i am down to 208 - i was prior to surgery 227.  so i am happy.  i have slowly regaining my energy.  i am walking daily not far but trying.  i am feeling better than i have been.

still having a hard time getting my water in - getting there up to 48 oz but it takes awhile.  protein is not high - working on that.  i hate the shakes too.  going for high protein foods.

going back to work on december 16.  the pa wanted me to stay out another week but i need to start working.  i promised i would not lift the first few weeks and ask for help.  i am a nurse on a busy floor.

have a good day all

Let me know how going back to work is for you. My lap RNY was on the 17th and I am going back to work on the 8th. I work in a surgical ICU so there is constant lifting and pulling. I don't feel like I can work 12 hrs yet without being exhausted but the doctor said this amount of time was all I would need. I see him tomorrow for my two week check up. We will see what he says.

Oh my goodness you ladies are real champs for going back to work so soon!  I think that your job sounds tiring even without recovering.  I wish you luck and hopefully you don't have to do anything strenuous for a while.

I had an OPEN RNY on the 25th and I am back to work on the 11th.  Trust me, I would go today if I could!  I feel GREAT!  The only reason that I am sore is from sitting so much!  :-)

I went back to work after 1 week and I unload trucks at a department store! I can barely walk after the shifts, but am having no problems with the incisions. I also drink 64+ oz of water or iced tea daily.

Congratulations Angie!!  It honestly took me till the start of week 3 to get better at both protein and water.  It is still a stuggle everyday.  I feel like I am working at one or the other all day long.  If I don't stick to a strict schedule I am screwed for the whole day.  The most difficult thing is that you can't drink with meals.  That would make it so much easier to reach a fluid goal.

8oz of ff milk is 8g protein as well as 8 oz fluid
8oz of ff creamed soup is 8oz fluid and 6-9 oz of protein (broc/cheese is awesome)

Make High Protein Pudding!
- FF milk with 2 scoops of protein powder and your fav pudding mix.  4 servings is 13.5 g protein each (depending on how many grams are in your Protein Powder)

I sip on a 24 oz cup of Crystal Lite all day --- sometimes 2 cups.  :-)

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!  :-)

My NUT and surgeon say I can only count noncaloric fluids. That means I can't count soup or protein shakes. Trying to get in that much water or crystal lite really is hard for me. I have never been a grea****er drinker except with meals and by gulping. Since i can't do either now it is a beig relearning thing for me.
