Biotin for hair growth...

Does anyone know about how much we absorb? I'm taking one 5,000mcg softgel a day because I don't want to over-do it. Would it be safe to take one in the morning and one at night? I cut my hair to get rid of the all the layers and want to grow it out one length now.
Thanks for any info!

Biotin will not stop the hair LOSS. It will help the new hair grow IN some people. All it did for me was grow my chin hair.

Did anyone actually read my question? I'm not losing hair! I'm 9 years out and don't have fall out. I cut my hair to get the layers out and now I want to grow it out one length. I need to know if I would be able to take 2 pills a day (of the 5,000mcg) and get some good results.
Thanks.

You probably won't notice much of a difference at all.  Biotin is more for hair health, not necessarily aiding in growth.

The only Biotin I found was in a gel cap and I've heard that when something is in a gel we don't absorb it well (cause it's oil/fat baed). But if you find a pill that's not in a gel cap maybe that will be better absorbed. I'm hoping a vet will chime in here. I did take Biotin 5,000 mcg daily after my sleeve (before DS) and I had no problems with it.

I was just at the hairdresser on Friday and she recommended taking it.  My hair hasn't fallen out yet but she said she has been taking it for years, and loves what it does for her hair, skin and nails.  She has not had WLS.  Nor did she recommend a dosage.  I picked it up at WalMart last night- 10,000mcg caplets (solid, not sofgels).  NatureMade, I believe.

I take 10,000 mcg twice a day.  I noticed that my hair seems to grow faster now than it did before surgery.  And it is healthy and shiny.

My doctor told me to massage my head when washing my hair.  I thought she was nuts, but I did it.  It does stimulate the hair follicles, so try that also.

I've heard that 10,000 mcg is the highest recommended dose, but I've also heard that more will not harm you.

I found Natrol brand Biotin - 5,000mcg at DrVita.com (https://www.drvita.com/p-14961-natrol-biotin-5000mcg-fast-di ssolve-90-tablets.aspx) and they are "fast dissolve" tablets.
