Just spoke with UHC I was denied due to no diseases. Really my BMI is almost 50 but because I have no diseases its denied. I'm trying to prevent diseases. Pissed, disappointed and waiting to speak to my surgeons office

Don't rely on your doctor.  Get a copy of your policy and see for yourself what the requirements are.  The standard is BMI of greater than 35 without co-morbidities, or over 40BMI with or without co-morbs.  I'd want to see with my own eyes where in the policy it says you need co-morbs with a BMI of 50.

Its suppose to be 40+ BMI you don't have to have co-morbidities so I don't understand why it was denied.

Then you need to appeal.  But have the policy provision in your hand so you can quote it chapter and verse to whoever handles the appeal.

That sucks really bad.  I was initially denied also.  If there is ANY way you qualify, try again.  Ask your surgeon's office if there is any wiggle room.  A good insurance coordinator will have already talked to your insurance to find out exactly what the minimums are and be able to tell you if you are wasting your time.  Best of luck.

Almost everyone is denied in the beginning. Just appeal and you'll probably be accepted.

Well after calling back again I was told that I'm required to do the 6 month supervised diet and that's why it was denied. Me and my doctor office called prior to me starting this process and we were told that it wasn't required with my plan.

Ok so do you remember the insurance rep name who told you that a  weight plan was nOt needed? Call back and tell them that information. Most insurance will honor what the rep stated.
