Help!!!!

I am a post RNY patient 5yrs plus out......VERY SUCCESSFUL! started out at 248 and have maintained at 130lbs since or abt a yr out, multilple surgeries not withstanding......BUT..for the last 2yrs or so I have been plagued with multilple symptoms that include re-occurant infections, funguses, swollen lymph nodes and the such......I have no clue if this is GBS related nor something more serious, each and every blood test NEVER shows anything conclusive and things are not getting better, only worse......my question: has ANYONE every had anything like this since thier surgery no matter how long ago thier surgery was????

I'm also five years plus out and haven't heard anything like this being linked.  I'll be interested to learn what you find out.  It sounds more like an immune system thing rather than a digestive.

I really think you may have an immunity issue or something else going on, as this is not common in the vast majority of wt loss surgery patients.  With your description of how often these issues occur, I'm surprised your PCP hasn't referred you to another specialist.  I had RNY 5 years ago and have no issues with infections. I had some issues with bruising, and resolve the majority of that problem with additional vitamin K daily.  I get a flu shot every 2 years, and have not had any cold or flu since my surgery.  I rarely sneeze either.  If things are getting worse, it's very important to check with a specialist to see what's happening with your body.      I went to my Dr today armed with new information on possible aperogillus (food borne or indoor mold problem)fungus allergy, he stated that beings we reside in Colorado  our weather certainly does not provide the atmostphere for any such allergy based on our usual humidity level ( UH ?????...... MOLD???    DUH!!!)

  BUT, I explained that my ex-hubby was a pure slob and so incredibly cheap that when we did have no less than 3 floods in our basement/family room  from our basemen****er heater due to his lack of general maintanance on the home and his cheaply purchsed appliances, he absolutely refused to allow me to call our home owners insurance to get any of the carpeting dried out and all properly  cleaned up to safe guard our family and health. So that being said this was my dr's response " some people just get sick constantly for no reason at all, you could start searching which is both costly and time consuming and still have no resolve" my response "these issues are now beginning to interfer with my quality of life, I'm worth the time and expense" Based on my response he ordered a vast amount of blood work (which I had done today, and should get results back by next week sometime), scheduled an MRI, informed me that I need to be re-evaluated for possible MS issues, be seen by an allergy specialist for this "uusual" mold possibility, be looked at for a mal-absorbtion issue resulting in a comprimised immune system and/or gluten allergy, as well as have a spinal tap to definatly rule out Leukemia (his original diagnosis), ......and so on. I am now thinking he was trying to scare me into not persuing my health decline.......so i guess after $$ spent, time used and pain endured, possibly, quite possibly I will get some type of diagnosis. I just cant understand why an unsually healthy person would suddenly become very sickly for no good reason, Oh and did  I forgot to mention the no less than now 14 POUNDS of weight loss in a 10 day period, I got him guessing dont I.......lol

I guess now I can truely and resonably understand why my BFF, sister and hubby want to me  get a different Dr altoghter......they all think he is a waist of my time, hope  and $$ with no obvious outcome.........
