Everyone RNY patient gains back about 20 pounds during the third year.  We blame it on a lot of things but it is part of now the body heals from the effect of being starved.  It is very rare for that not to happen. Some people do prevent it with careful dieting or with eating disorder behavior.  But it is normal to have the regain.

It will seem almost impossible to lose that weight.  After my bounceback gain, it takes a lot of work for me to just maintain where I ended up.

I'm glad I'm NORMAL!!! But hope I can at least get 10-15 lbs of it off!!! Thank You!!

I am sorry but I beg to differ.  I am 6+ years from RNY and I havent gained anything back.  I dont diet or exercise and I certainly dont have a eating disorder!

Just saying.

I agree with you as well....Not everyone gains weight back.  it is very individual and many things can affect that.

 Sue,

You are definitely an exception to the bounceback weight regain rule.  You look wonderful and are an inspiration. On the WLS bell curve there is probably someone who gained back 100% of their lost weight matching you on the opposite side.

Thank you for the compliment       And that pic is about 4 years old!!  I know it is very easy for a regain so that is why I step on the scale every other day so I can catch it if I need to.
