Hi guys - so since I started this journey I have only used Syntrax Nectar products which at the time were about 35.00 a bottle and now it's up to 60.00 per bottle. Which is sheer crap!! grrrrr..

What other brands have you used post RNY surgery? I'm disgusted at the increase in cost!!

Thank you.

I quit using protein drinks when I had regain in year 3. If you are able to eat meat, eggs, fish, cheeses, you do not need protein powder. It is great for right after surgery when you cannot eat regular foods.

all the higher-quality brands (like Syntrax) are astronomical - although sometimes you can find them cheaper at some places - search around on the internet to see if you can find better prices. Although White Dove is correct - this far out, you probably don't need to use protein powder unless there's some medical reason to - or if you're not able to get enough through regular food.

Interesting. Good to know. It's become a good habit for me. What brands are the newbies using? I actually enjoy mine.

Hi there!

Guess I'm newbie-ish, though I had SADI and not bypass. At just under five months out, I don't really drink protein shakes these days outside of a supplement for busy days when I know eating will be hard.

Due to preferences and my lack of tolerance for sweet flavors, I used several brands from May to now, including OWYN, Unjury, Planted, collagen peptides (don't remember the name brand and it was a supplemental, incomplete protein), and Isopure for cooking. The pre-made ones I have left are OWYN, which my dietician recommends against because you should eat food instead, and Fairlife.

Good luck finding what you need!
