surgeons for person with high bmi in canada ?

Hi,

I am new to OH and I do not meet the criteria for bariatric surgery in Manitoba ( bmi of less than 47 ).  My BMI is too high.  Does anyone know of any surgeons who will work with people with a BMI of 60 ?  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

 My surgeon is in Toronto.  When I started, I was at 66.6 and my BMI was not an issue.  I was however suggested that I try to lose weight before surgery which I did but I wouldn't have been rejected if I didn't

I was 54, and I got surgery with Dr Gagner

He's within the best surgeon, I am not 100% sure he operates on BMI 60 or over as I never ask the question, but here is his email:

My BMI was 56.8 and I had my surgery at Toronto Western Hospital....if you look for the Ontario Bariatric Registry you will find all of the Centres in Ontario performing the surgeries and you could contact them to see how you could get cross-province coverage although I'm not sure that is possible.

The criteria in Ontario is a BMI of 35 or higher with co-morbidities or a BMI of 40 and over....there is no high limit to BMI as far as I know.  Good Luck!!
