Ice knee after running?

I'm training for my third half marathon that is coming up in a little over a week. In my training program i'm up to 8 miles last week.

I noticed that i have some discomfort in one or sometimes both of my knees after the long runs. It doesn't bother me on my 2-3 mile ones, just the long.

Is icing after the run the correct thing for the soreness and/or sometimes pain?

I'll be running 9 miles tomorrow so i'd like to put any advice to work after.

thanks for your input.

For me Icing is mandatory.  I have many ppics of my legs up covered with ice packs after a long run.

any thing over 4 miles and I have to ice.  I will even sit in a cool tub with ice.   I bought several ice packs that I keep in the freezer.  And I use biofreeze, A LOT.  :-)    Happy running!!!!

Yes! Running is rough on the body so ice is perfect after a long run. I have lots of ice packs and contraptions to strap them all over my legs and hips :-p

Great job with the training!
