This shouldn't happen. I take a birth control pill continuously...therefore no period....any ideas? I am on day 12 of optifast

There could be a number of things contributing to it. If your fat is releasing hormones, it can contribute. Also your change in diet affects it (shock to system). If you are feeling any stress can be a factor. I know that a lot of people say that they start their period around surgery time, either that morning, or while in hospital.

I'm not sure if there are any issues with Opti and Birth Control though. I do know that the pill isn't as effective post surgery for contraception (although, I'm no it to help regulate the pain and schedule and it works for that).

And that's what I use it for...regular and pain

This may be a silly questtion but what happens if you get your period on the day or before your procedure..... Do they just carry on and do the surgery? Something I have been worried about

Having your period won't delay your surgery. When it has started you go in for pre-surgery (the morning of surgery) let the nurse know so that they are aware. They may want you to wear something a bit different (not sure as mine started after surgery). If you normally use tampons, I'd highly recommend that for this cycle, you use pads. And bring your own pads with you. Unless they have changed since I was in hospital, the ones that they supply aren't very comfy.

OMG same with me. I have an IUD and not had a cycle for about 2.5 years and now BOOM day 9 of opti I get a visitor. My cravings have been vicious. Can't stand all this Halloween junk it has been so tempting. I am disappointed in myself as u gave into the temptation and had some.
