Hi all!

I'm looking for calcium citrate + vitamin D chewables for after surgery! What's your go-to kind and where do you get them?

Hi Jenn, I use the Jamieson Calcium + D3 as it was recommended by the vitamin handouts from TWH. The come in swiss chocolate and caramel flavors and they are very nice and soft and taste just like candy. I'll probably switch to something in a pill form once I am one month post op.

Great!

I saw those too in the TWH book, and then when I looked at the ingredients they had sugar. The other Life brand chews in the picture are sugar free, so I wasn't sure if the Jamieson ones were actually okay or not!

I'm guessing the amount of sugar in them is so low that it doesn't make you sick?

Yes, I remember looking at the comparison too and wondering, but I figured since it was on the sheet it was going to be OK. I've been taking them for 4 days now and never had an issue. Each chew has 1.7 grams of sugar so it's OK. They've been going in very well and I also use the Jamieson Vita-vim chewable vitamins and outside of them being a little sour, I also have no problem with them. The Jamieson B12 dissolvable mint strips are something else though - yuck ;) Can't wait till I have them in a different form.

Nice! I'll have to pick up those calcium citrate chews! I was kind of excited to see the flavours lol I'll pretend I'm eating a caramel :p

For the B12 I picked up the Jamieson sublingual tablets, and for vitamins I grabbed centrum chewables.

Thank goodness I didn't get the B12 strips!

Those ones should only be recommended for the first month. They are not primarily citrate.

These left me osteonpenic.

You need citrate.

Please! - the Jamieson Calcium chews are mainly calcium carbonate which we do not absorb.  Please switch to a calcium citrate.

The chews have never been the correct choice for those who malabsorb.  I think many of the centers suggest them as they are easy to take for the first few weeks - not sure why they do this but its just a waste and worse is you think you are taking what you require

Your bones will thank you - find CITRATE and not carbonate

I take the Life Brand liquid calcium citrate - just find one you can live with and take the required amount.  this is really important

I'm going to take whatever my center suggests and will switch when I'm one month post op, also as suggested by the center. These chews contain both citrate and carbonate and at this stage it's more important not to take something that will not be to tolerated well by the pouch. Everyone is welcome to their own opinion though.
