I have my last nut appointment in a few hours not worried but unsure what will happen now and how fast anything might happen. My doctor is good but communications from his office is not great. I have been thru all these months of jumping thru hoops and have a no better idea my chances of being approved. My main worry is I will be told no because of my age. At the end of the month I turn 66 his limit is 65 so I just worry about that. I have except for one or two slip ups stayed on my diet and controlled emotional eating. I am now getting impatient and about to get a little grumpy. Sorry I guess I am venting and yes a little neverious I will have gone thru all this and still be turned down.

I am starting to think there should be a support group thru the dr office for people in waiting for WLS

Any respectable Doctor would have told you not to bother if his cut off was a firm 65....be persistent with his office to get your questions answered.

Are you concerned about approval from insurance or docs office? If it's insurance, just call directly and see what the requirements are. If it's the doc ....just be persistent.

Good luck!

When I called my insurance I was told "medical necessity."  That is all they could say, but I know there is way more to it. My him is around 40, but I am looking for revision to help my back. I can only stand for 5 minutes after back surgery 3 years ago it was a new spine specialist who decided I was going to have a revision. I am happy about it and onl hope I get approved.

If you get denied appeal right now. I have written an appeal letter so if I would get denied I will get their fax number and hit them with it right away. Many insurance companies depend on people to accept their decision. Make sure who is making a decision that it's a Dr not a nurse or bean counter. I filled an appeal on behalf of a decision made against my wife. The decision about a neurological problem was made by an obgyn. We son the appeal because of the fact an obgyn did not have the training to make such a decision. Be prepared for your own sake strong letters of medical necessity is suppose to mean a lot

You were 65 when you got into this and your Dr knows when your birthday is. I see no problem with him doing your surgery since you have been a patient of his for so long. Plus you have been a compliant patient and done well during the wait.
