New Arthritis Medicine - Axorid
Just recently being diagnosed with arthritis in my knee (painful). I started researching something I could take for this horrible pain. I found this website. http://www.axorid.com/professionals/axorid-faqs.php Is anyone familiar with this medication? I also found a card that I can regisiter and only pay $10.00 per month.
It is very interesting that it is a mix of an NSAID and a PPI to help protect the stomach. Thjsoe surgeons that DO permit NSAIDS only permit them if you also take a PPI, so this might be a SHORT-TERM option for you, but even surgeons who permit short courses of anti-inflammatories discourage long term use of them because the risk of ulcers -- in both the pouch and the blind, remnant stomach -- is just too high.
Tramadol seems to be a popular pain reliever for arthritis pain. I took it for several years and have recently started taking Vicodin instead of the Tramadol on the really bad pain days (I am stalling having a knee replacement). It is by prescription only, but is NOT and NSAID so at least it is safe for us to take long term.
