I have it all the time. Mine's from 2 bulging discs. It doesn't happen as much as it used to with as much weight as I've lost, but it still does.

Get your B12 levels checked ASAP. Numbness and tingling in the extremeties is a classis classic symptom of low B12 which can be dangerous and irreversible.

I had this exact problem.  My belly was bearing down and pinching my "lateral femoral cutaneous nerve" which cause the outside of my thighs to be both numb and painful (like electric shocks) at the same time.  Laying on my back made it worse, and sometimes it felt like my thighs were "unzipping" open.  Laying and sleeping on my sides helped to reduce the inflammation.  My belly has lost enough weight now, so it doesn't pinch anymore.  From what I understand, this also can impact pregnant women.  Anyway, take a look and see it this makes sense:

Oh, my doctor prescribed "Lidoderm" patches which helped some.
