it's really not that easy to stretch your stomach.  how much are you eating?  how often are you eating? a little bit more info would be helpful :)

I can eat a lot it seems like. A cup of cereal with milk, over a cup of pasta (dreamfields), 6 oz of meat, a burger, a deli sandwich with a sandwich thin, 4 to 6 inch sub from subway. Not at the same time of course but all those things are a meal. And then I'm hungry again a half hour later. I drin****il I eat but then I wait a half hour to drink anything after I eat. Anything carby I can eat a lot of. I try to stay away from carbs but they do come in a lot lately.

I'm going to the gym five times a week in the past week and a half so hopefully that will help but I am still worried.

I just feel hunger all the time. I drink a lot of water too.

1. Are you keeping record of eveything you are eating? 2. Are you taking all of your vitamins and supplements? 3. How many ounces of water are you getting in? 4. How much protein are you getting in? Carbs? Fat? Sugars? 5. How many calories are you getting in? You can eat what seems like all day, and if you are only getting in 1200-1500 calories you are fine. The exercise can also boost your hunger levels as well, meaning you would need some carbs to give yourself energy, otherwise your body will hold onto fat. Are you still losing weight? If you feel that you are doing everything to the best of your ability and following your doctors and nutritionists orders, give them a call. You can have an upper GI done to check your pouch to see how much it is stretched or if the stoma has been stretched if it will put you at ease. Best of luck and well wishes to you.

All of that does sound like a lot and is a LOT of carbs.  Cereal, milk, bread are all carbs and you may need to seriously cut those back.  Carbs make somefolks hungry.  I think you also may want to seek some counciling.  If you contiue to eat like this, you will stop losing and can regain.  Do you have a NUT?  What does you program say to be eating at this point?  Are you getting in 80-100g of protein?  Cutting the carbs may very well impact how much you are hungry.

I don't drink anything for an hour or more after I eat or my hunger returns quickly as well. Try waiting longer and see if that helps. Also, I think this is just reality setting in. Many people in my support group say that they can eat more than they had thought possible so they just have to choose to eat less. THAT is the challenge. Are you still going to OA, too?

It doesn't sound like too MUCH food for where you are, but -- as Price said -- it does sound like a LOT of carbs (there are a number of formal and informal studies that show that the Dreamfields pasta does NOT have "undigestible" carbs as they advertise (the carbs are just absorbed more slowly), so I would definitely ditch that!) and carbs can make you more hungry.  I would completely cut out the bread and cereal and pasta for a while and see if that helps.

It is very difficult to stretch your pouch, but it is designed to get larger as you get farther out from surgery.  If it did not, we would all starve to death -- or have to eat almost constantly throughout the day -- only being able to eat a few ounces at a time.  You are far enough out that it is natural to be able to eat more... and as you are able to eat more it becomes more important to be diligent about your food choices.

I am wayyyy behind you but i would have to say that you are not eating that much....I think its probably normal where you are but the carbs ..... especially refined carbs such as things made with white flour, white rice, white pasta....will keep you hungry and craving more.  Eat protein for breakfast, lunch and dinner...with vegies and a weeee bit of something else like brown rice or quinoa or whatever.  For snacks eat cottage cheese, cheeses with maybe multigrain crackers or deli meat etc...  I think you just need to revamp WHAT your eating.  At 3 months out i can probably easily eat a whole hamburger too..with only one part of the bun.  But i choose not to.  Drink lots between meals.  The carbs and grazing will be my problem i can already tell so i have to constantly be aware...  and good luck and keep us updated...

Do you all think if I switch to only whole grains I will be less hungry? I am going to switch to a protein shake every morning and see if that helps. Is it bad to have a lot of carbs if it is stuff like whole wheat bread and quinoa? I'm getting at least 70 grams of protein in a day and all my water and vitamin goals.
