3.5 months post-op... 88lbs Lost! Normal?
Wow, I think that's a lot more weight loss than normal in just three months. Took me at least twice as long to lose that much, I think.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Actually, that is MUCH more than most, but loss depends SO much on how much you have to lose to begin with. The thing some surgeons look for is losing ROUGHLY 50% of your excess weight by 6 months or so out, but even that is a VERY general guideline. Many people start out losing quickly and then it slows down, some start slowly and then it picks up later on, and some people lose very erratically the whole time. As long as you are doing ewhat you are supposed to be doing, getting in enough nutrition (but not too much), it is "normal" for you. There IS no other "normal".

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I am just about 3 1/2 months out and I have lost 83 lbs total. 14 or so were pre- pre op and 10 or so were during the 2 week liquid diet. My starting weight was 293 and I am 5'5". My current weight is 210. It looks like our starting weight was about the same so weight. What is your height? and what is your goal weight? My Dr set mine at 145 or so and I set it at 150.
Go HERE to see what the OH weight loss planner says is "average" for your height and starting weight. This was pretty accurate for my losing phase.

I was 287.5lbs and 5'4. I am (as of today) 199.5. So 88lbs. I did lose some pre-surgery but not too much. So I just count it in. So it would really be 88lbs in 4 months (2 Pre-op weeks).
Do you think that if my weight loss has been a little bit more than usual that would explain why I have lost so SO much hair? I try to get in as much protein as possible and take my vitamins. It's really annoying.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!!

When you say you try to get "as much protien as possible", how much is that? I have lost no hair at all and I get between 70-90 grams per day. Every day. My protein on my labs was 7.7 so I know I am getting enough. Did you have your 3 month labs yet? What was your protein level? If it was low that would explain the hair loss.
