eating disorders post surgery?

i was wondering how many people have developed an issue with food after weight loss surgery..i had my RNY in jan of 09 and in the last year i have gone threw a period of hating food. it started off with scar tissue upsetting my stomach so i would throw up almost everything i ate. then it developed into food aversion. so i went to pretty much just liquid and coffee was my drug of choice. i still would rather drink coffee then eat anything. my doctor diagnosed me with an eating disorder but I'm just not sure how to get back to 'normal' eating. there are days i eat fine then days i feel so fat i don't want to eat anything. has anyone experienced something like this before? i hate not being in control of my body and have stopped losing weight.

Did your doctor refer you to someone for treatment of your eating disorder?  You most likely need specialized treatment for that.  It's my understanding that eating disorders are one of the most difficult psychological disorders to recover from and also the most deadly psychological disorder - you need to get help with it.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

i have been talking to a counselor. i didn't want to go to a treatment center. the problem is when i start to get busy i go back to my old habits. i go to school and work 2 jobs. i have been seeing my counselor less and less. but its not intentional. i know i need to go back to my doctor also but I'm scared because i know she wont be happy. i haven't seen my surgeon since i developed this. i have been putting it off.

Please, at the very least, stay on top of seeing your counselor! Avoidance does nothing but reinforce the irrational & unhealthy thoughts... I didn't have any major resurgance of ED, which I did fear would come back once I started really seeing how thin I've become, but did very well in creating supports & dealing with head issues - a far cry from how I thought in my 20s, when I was abusing laxatives, and thinking I could handle it all on my own.
