Ok, so this morning I was browsing through the internet and I got this craving for chocolate. So I google sugar free candy and I find the diabetic friendly website and it's made me the happiest I've been in a long time. There are just so many things on this site. I thought I'd share it with everyone. Hope it helps!!

Hey ----I don't want to rain on your parade,  but move with caution and go slow.   You may find even sugar free candy is a trigger food and make you loose your way.   And don't forget that those items that are sugar free usually are full of sugar acohols----they create trememous gas and bloating and if you aren't careful ---running to the bathroom.    I am not saying don't -----just use caution.   And be happy no matter what---you deserve to be happy, with or without candy.

I didn't purchase anything and I don't plan on it...it just makes me happy to look at it. I'm not rushing into anything.

I found the further out I got the less I was craving the sugars and carbs.  Yes, you have to be careful of the sugar alcohols.  I am almost 6 months out and to be honest, I just want to stay away from foods right now that even resemble things I use to love.  Doesn't mean I will never have treats but I believe in the beginning we need to stay away from things that might trigger what got us obese in the first place.  Again, this doesn't mean you can't have sugar free items just be careful.  Best of luck!  Jane

Just to know, the longer you go with out sugars/ carbs the less you miss them, but again there is nothing wrong with food porn! I am 3 years out and I can not tolerate sugar alcohols AT ALL!  Just a eads up!  It brings on a new level of dumping.  I wasn't thinking and grabbed a protein bar that had 1 gram on sugar...forgot to check sugar alcohols and it has 20.  I wanted to die!

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

If you want to look at organic, non-GMO, natural candy I encourage you to check out the natural candy store at www.naturalcandystore.com. Some of their candies are sugar free and some are not but what is nice is there is something for everyone as far as allergies and other needs go. I like looking at the different colored candies and I have ordered some for myself to have as a treat on a limited basis. What I have tried has been delicious. But you have to decide if this is a trigger food for you. Have fun!
