Magnesium Citrate for Bowel Prep?

Has anyone had to use magnesium citrate for bowel prep prior to surgery?  I had to drink 10 oz at 10 AM and another 10 oz at 4 PM, but no results yet.  It's now 5 PM here.  Worried it won't work - surgery tomorrow at 8:15.  I've been drinking lots of water.

Any advice or comments?

I did. I took the first one at 5:30 in the morning . Then I took the second one at 11:00 in the morning.About an hour after the second one, it kicked in. Hopefully yours will start soon (i know that's not normally a good wish lol).

I also had nothing happen until after the second dose, and even then it took a while.  It has been many years, so I don't remember exactly how long, but I do remember wondering if anything WAS going to happen.  Keep in mind that if you have eaten a limited amount of food in the last 24 hours, there might not be much in your system to get rid of.

The surgeon doesn't work on your colon during the surgery, so even if nothing happens, don't worry about it.  Many people don't even have to do a bowel prep right before surgery.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

No bowel prep, just two days of liquids.

I didn't use mag citrate.  I used 2 mega doses of Miralax.  1 at 4 pm,  1 at 8 pm.  It did not produce anything until around 11 pm.  I was in the bathroom off and on until midnight. Don't worry,  it will work.

That is what we used. I drank the bottle and was pooping in 45 minutes!!!

If you have been on a liquid diet, then you may not have much to get rid of.

Good luck with your procedure!!

Thanks, everyone!  It finally kicked in, to put it mildly.  I appreciate everyone's response, thanks for taking the time to reassure me.
