120 Days Today - Am I Safe Yet???

One of the most recent articles I've seen posted here said Telegen Effluvian (hair loss after surgery) usually occurs between 100-120 days after your operation.  In class we learned it generally occurs at or about 3 months.

I also just read this online:  "...your hair sheds between 1 to 6 months after surgery (usually about 3 to 4 months)..."

For those of you who lost hair after surgery - did any of it occur after 120 days?  Or is it possible I'm safe as of today??!!!

I've read that it starts at 3-4 months and gets the worst at the 6-8 month point.

I started shedding big time around 4 months and cut it short at 6 months because it looked awful.  It slowed down considerably after that but I'm keeping my short and sassy 'do because I like it!

I noticed mine around 3 months and thought it stopped at 5 months. I started shedding again around month 8 months. Hopefully it will end soon. I get all of my vitamins and meet daily protein goals.

Its only bad enough for me to notice and I haven't chopped off all my hair.

Mine started at about 3 months and is getting worse now at 6 months.  Hopefully it will start to slow down.  I thought I was going to be ok.  Originally started with hair down past my shoulders about mid back and cut it to right above the shoulders at 3 months. Having it cut shorter on Sunday.

Mine started almost immediately after surgery :( So I keep hoping it will stop way sooner than that average! I have thick hair so it's okay-ish right now at 2.5 months out. I have a chubby face or I would chop off my hair, I had it short once before and loved it when my face was thinner. I have a salon appt in 2 weeks so we'll see what I end up doing.

My hair is awful:-(. Starting falling out BADLY at about 3-4 mos. Started hair vitamins and added more protein. Seemed to keep right on falling out!  Slowed a month or so ago, then started again recently. It has zero body and looks dry and frizzy, and it is completely unmanageable. I guess it will get better soon!  It doesn't look so bad in the mirror, but in pictures, AAACK!!!  Is that what others see every day?  A friend in a group I attend is all but completely bald!!!  It's worth a little hair to be healthy and feel so much better about myself, tho!

Mine started at around 4 months and seemed to slow down around 6 months or so. Just like AV stated below I cut mine short at 6 months though so not sure if that helped. Now I giggle at the new hair growth that sticks straight up on my head :)

Thanks for all the helpful replies.  Sadly, it sounds like I'm not out of the woods yet at 120 days out.  I have very thin/fine hair to begin with... can't afford to lose much.  I'm just hoping against hope that I'll one of the lucky ones.

Guess I'll keep crossing my fingers and toes.

Thanks again.

Nope, not safe yet.  Mine had not started by the end of the third month and I thought I might get lucky. (I, too, have very fine hair and just a very average amount of it (or did back then) and was fearful of what might happen) Then month 4 hit... and my hopes were dashed.  By the time the hair loss stopped in month 9, I was starting to think about a wig. I survived, though, and so will you.

Remember, your face is much smaller so most people won't notice much unless you lose a lot. Even when they do notice, you will feel so good about being smaller that the hair isn't quite as big a concern as you might fear.
