SURGERY IN 5 HOURS FEELING NERVOUS

Hi everyone. My surgery is scheduled for 8AM today. I was very calm last night, but right now I am so very anxious. I have a lot of nervous energy I need to get rid of. I was able to lose 36 pounds pre-surgery so I know I can do this. I just realized I never took any pictures of myself to have after surgery to see my progress. I have always hated having my picture taken so they are few and far between. I guess I will have one taken before I go back to surgery today. I guess that will be a good reminder of where this journey has taken me, and the hope of a brand new start. I'm not ashamed to admit I am scared, both of the surgery, and getting through the first few months of dealing with my emotions to food, and staying the course. But I am more scared of not going through with the surgery and dying before I am 40. I want my health back. I want to be able to be active again. Play sports, roller-skate, bowl, ride roller-coasters, heck maybe even skydive. I just want to be able to live life fully. I truly hope for all of us going through this journey we can make it safely to the other side of the loser's bench, able to enjoy each day to the fullest extent, and be happy with ourselves and our bodies.

Thanks for listening

Hang in there, Kid, it's going to be an interesting ride!

Yeah, if you can take a picture, do so.  Also do some measurements, just so you can keep track.

The night before my surgery I spent going through the Before & After photos on this site, as well as doing the Two-Step Tango with my bowel cleansing.  Didn't leave me much time to be nervous.

You'll be fine;  your surgical team will take care of you, you'll go nighty-night, then wake up ready for your new life.

Keep us posted.  Walkwalkwalk, chewchewchew, sipsipsip, nap as needed.

Best wishes to you today!! Having WLS was the best gift I ever gave myself I hope you will soon be saying the same thing.

Sip water every chance you can, walk, breathe fresh air, don't expect too much to fast, try not to compare your journey to anyone else's, work on the head stuff (it doesn't go away with the pounds)

I had revision from band to RNY on May 18.  I just now feel like I'm starting to get the hang of things and yet I had some food that gave me fits last night.  I didn't cut it up and it was simply too big.  Dinner ended early.  My point in sharing this is that you're going to come out of this feeling different.  Some days are going to be better than others.  Stay the course and do what the doctor and your nutritionist have told you to do.  You will hit plateaus.  You're going to do great!

I never said it would be easy. I said it would be worth it.
