For those of you who have had your information submitted to your insurance companies, how often did you call to inquire on the status (approved, denied, etc)? Do you feel that your calling helped to get your decision any sooner?  My information should be submitted on Tuesday and my plan was to give it 24 hrs for them to get it and process everything in their system and then call twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening.

I didn't call. My surgeon's office submitted everything for me and I think my ins company (BCBS of TX) has something like 10 working days to make a decision so that was nice. Frankly, I was shocked they said yes!

Good luck!

Thank you.  10 working days sounds awesome.  It could take mine anywhere from a week to 30 days.  The lady in charge of my paperwork said it is up to the patients to call the insurance companies to try and get a rush approval. We shall see

That's crazy!  But in that case I'd call at least once a day! :)

Hope it comes super fast for you!

Once i completed my last appt the surgeons office told me they would be submitting my paperwork right then..I got a call 2 hours later that they had approved me..and i was given my date for surgery.  I'm sure they're not all that fast though.  I would give them a couple days..and if you haven't heard..then contact them.

Once my Dr submitted I called insurance daily. That got my claim escalated and some important info that was a disconnect between the Dr's office and insurance... Even with all that it took ~1.5 weeks to get approved.
