Hiccups were common for me, and happened often for the first two months or so, but have tapered off.  I still get them probably more often than I did pre-op, but not like before.  It seemed every day there for a while.
I can't say that they are related to diarrhea or throwing up, though.  And I've never had hiccups while asleep.

I am not sure of the correlation unless it's gas?  Have you tried GasX chewables?  For some reason, it helped me with my hiccups and even some of my diarrhea right after surgery.  If your symptoms continue, I'd be sure to call the surgeon's office to be sure there is nothing to worry about.  I called my surgeon about an open suture on a Sunday morning and he called me right back to discuss my symptoms.  I would be most worried about the diarrhea and vomitting b/c it is SO easy to become dehydrated post-op.  I'd also keep tabs on my temperature to make sure it's normal.

Hopefully these will soon phase out as your body adjusts to the changes you've gone through!

I actually get hiccups every time I eat as my sleeve is getting full.  It's my body telling me to stop eating.

I would think it might be excess acid, sloshing around in your sleeve and you are hiccuping because it is there.

Are you taking a PPI,like Nexium or anything? If not ask your surgeon for a scrip.

As for the vomiting...what was the vomit, food or bile like? Yellowish, orangish, brownish? There is such a thing as "silent reflux" which I have been reading about lately.

Diarrhea, just keep drinking all you can to counteract it and If it continues, ask your surgeon for a c-difficile stool test.

Good luck,Holly
