Low blood pressure scare

I had been having symptoms that I had discussed here, like feeling light headed when I would get up from sitting or from bed, but this morning I worked out, took a rest, showered and when I was finishing getting ready things when down hill from there, it went waaay down to 54/40. My parents are now against me working out outside (I did it early to beat the heat) and I am feeling powerless as to what type of excercise to transition to inside. Sigh =( Just thought I'd share this to get the anxiety of my chest.

What does your doctor say about the dropping blood pressure?

That IS way low!  My doc mentioned that there are meds that can be used to raise it - assuming you've already upped your sodium and electrolytes and are staying well hydrated and are eating enough protein.

Inside exercise (I'm assuming you have less issues in air conditioned spaces) could be anything at a gym, a treadmill, workout videos, swimming, strength training, court sports...

Do you take any medication for high blood pressure now?  I know I had something similar happen to me when I was still taking meds for my BP, and my doc cut my meds way back.  I eventually came off my meds because my BP was low on its own without the medication.

I didn't have high blood pressure before the surgery (yet, I bet it was just a matter of time), I do all my water and then some, I eat all my protein too. I think I'm going to have to check it out more closely and do stuff inside.

I struggled like that for a while too- eventually the doc realized my sodicum was low.  All that fresh produce and protein (hold the salt please) dropped my level out of the recommended range. Things that helped me, since I hate salty foods... Powerade zero, a couple a day.  Sugar free sweet pickles, canned soup or broth.  I eventually found that I do great if my sodium is toward the high end of the range.  Just yesterday I hit 106/72... outstanding for me!  (I used to run low 80's or high 70s  over low to mid 40s.)

Thank you for the suggestions!!!! I've always been a salty person, but since surgery I cut it out and I guess I'm going to have to add it in somewhere. I'll start with Powerade and broth and see how it goes from there.
