My dogs are happy
Well for those of us that are on the liquid diet, clear liquid diet or post-op liquid diet here is what I plan on doing to day. I bought 10 pounds of chicken quarters, chicken base. I plan on cooking down the chicken 5 pounds at a time with the chicken base and about 2 gallons of water, then I use old V8 bottles and fill them with the chicken broth and keep on in the icebox and then I freeze the others. I then I take the cooked chicken and debone it and chop it up and use it for my dogs. Man are they happy that I do that.
You might consider shredding and freezing the chicken for future eating. I made chicken curries and pureed them during the pureed part of my diet.
(Don't let your dogs get obese as you work to escape it yourself!) :D

I have thought about saving the chicken but the problem is that I have made 4 batches so my freezer is getting full. As for as my dogs getting fat I take them on my walks with me now, and also we live on a farm and they run all over the place chasing the chickens around and other animals they find walking about.LOL
Thank you for the advise though, and I can say I last a 1.5 pounds again this week, with 12 days left before my surgery.
Starting day 2 of my liquid diet today. Luckily it's not a clear liquid diet, I can have shakes, but I know the sweet taste of those is going to get old very fast. I had thought about making broth to fulfill some of my water requirements and you've inspired me! Good luck!!
Great idea with the chicken broth! Be sure to take most of the fat off after it has cooled....also, cooking the chicken with some celery/onion will improve the flavor of the broth. Discard the veggies when you strain the broth. I second freezing some of the chicken..It will come in handy after surgery.
