I had the same issue after surgery.  I would wake up and be up, not able to go back to sleep.. For me, that lasted about a month, month and a half.  It was so weird.  I would sleep 2-3 hours and be up all day.  I guess once I got back to work, that totally changed...

This has happened with me on and off since I have surgery back in May 2013.  I think it probably is tied to fluctuating hormones and my body just trying to figure WTH is going on some days

All I can say is you're not alone! I definitely have trouble with waking up early some mornings, like 2, 3, 4 o'clock. I really hate it. I think in my case at least part of it has to do with reflux.

Sleep has always been a problem for me since I work a rotating shift. Getting into a routine & having the right atmosphere definitely helps. I usually need a fan on & the sound calms me into sleep, having the room aliitle cold helps also cuz I like to snuggle under a comforter. Nice sheets, a cool pillow. Don't drink or exercise right b4 bedtime. Zone out, don't think about your upcoming day or the past one. I've read that melatonin helps with sleep, maybe drinking it in a tea can help relax you. The fitbit one has a sleep tracker in it & tells you how much sleep you're really getting as it tracks how long you're awake & how many times you're restless. & for how long.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
