At my 50 pound lost mark and wondering about my calorie intake.
....and its only been 6 weeks. My question is I have started my normal diet but am only getting about 400 to 550 calories. I am getting my protein. Is this okay? How many calories should I be getting at this point. How many meals a day should i be eating. I am eating two and drinking one protein shake.
Everyone's doctor recommended plan is different...you should follow whatever your doctor or NUT set you up with. In general, I would say at 6 weeks it sounds like you're eating a decent amount as long as you are getting in your protein.
As for number of meals, again - plans differ. Some docs are adamant about 3 meals a day nothing in between. My doc wants me eating 5-6 small meals/snacks throughout the day to keep my blood sugar stable.
What does your surgeon's plan say?
Mine just wants me to make sure I'm getting my protein in every day and eat three meals a day. So that's what I do. I don't count calories. I eat two solid meals of 4 ounces each and then one shake for my third meal. This makes my surgeon happy.
