Well today is the day!

Well today is the day. I am so scared and so nervous. I have wanted to do this for so long, and now that the time is here I am having doubts. What if I can't do this? I have to be at the hospital at noon. I am hoping and praying that everything goes okay, and that I am making the right decision. Everybody says if your not nervous there is something wrong with you, but has anyone else ever felt like this?

I am so nervous it scares me. I disagree with the people that say there is something wrong with you if you are nervous. You are making a huge lifestyle change, you are completely rearranging a part of your life. If you are anything like me food has been my comfort through everything and I am giving it up. It's been my best friend, my confidant, my cheerleader, everything and every feeling in my life has been revolved around food. It's a toxic friendship that I need to get rid of. I think the part that makes me so nervous is that it's not reversible. It's the finality of it, I have no choice but to follow the instructions of my sleeve.

So with all the scary stuff out of the way... you are going to do great!! You are going to succeed and you will feel so much better not only health wise but mentally. You know it's going to be hard but you have prepared for this challenge. You've got this! Jump onto the losers side of the bench and pave the way for the rest of us that are still waiting :)

I very much felt the same way in the couple days before surgery and the morning of surgery. Very nervous, scared and edgy. My fear was about actual surgery, anaesthetic, and the unknown. I didn't know what the other side would be like. Turns out you look and feel normal (no flashing sign above your head) , its just that you eat much less and must be more aware of what you put in your mouth. Take it one day at a time, follow the doctor/dietary instructions and just keep remembering that you are taking control. You are choosing your life and health over cheesecake. That's actually what is kept saying to myself, "I'm not letting the cheesecake win anymore".

Good luck. You can do this.  You do it one minute, hour, day at a time. Just remember to walk and get your water in.

Hoping everything went well for you today! Thinking of you and sending positive energy your way!

My surgery was Monday, so I'm 3 days post-op and feel GREAT! I can't believe how good I feel. I'm hoping you have the same experience!

Update us when you feel up to it! Until then - rest and take good care of yourself!
