Feeling sorry for myself today 😟😟

I am just two weeks and 2 days out, I am so sick of liquids and now puréed, I just want real food.  Does anyone know at what point we are allowed to eat regular food again? I'm not really hungry, just. Want real food again. I go see the nutritionist on Thursday, maybe she can let me know how much longer. I can't eat more than a few spoonfuls of anything, so it's not quantity I want its food I can chew again...

Every surgeon's plan is different, so nobody can really tell you when you can introduce regular foods back to your diet. For my plan - it was at the 8 week mark. I do remember missing chewing in those early stages!

Agreed with the other post. Every doc is different but I was eating a very small pork chop at week 4. I also was lucky enough to not get sick or have any dumping syndrome. I am now a little more then 10 months post op. I know the feeling but believe me you will have the rest of your life to chew, stick with what the doctor says and stay strong. Good Luck

I am surprised they did not tell you when you could start real food.  One thing that I recommend is protein chips from Quest Nutrition.  You might be able to find at a health food store.  Or you might have to order online.  They are just protein powder made into imitation potato chips.  I like the salt and vinegar.

Until cleared though, do not eat meats, fruit, berries or vegetables.

Your nutritionist and most other people do not know about these the chips, so don't be surprised if you ask and are told no.  I only know because even at almost eight years out, I am always trying new high protein, low carb items.

I'm right there with you!!!! I'm 2 weeks out today, and I have to admit the last 3 days I would kill to just eat a piece of meet. I'm technically supposed to still be on full liquids for another week, then puréed, then soft foods, .....so no real food until after 5 weeks.

Well I broke down and made a scrambled egg today. I ate about 1/3 of it, in tiny little baby spoon bites, and fed the rest to my dogs. It went down fine, but I didn't want to pu****

And same thing, I am not hungry at all, (which I Love!!!!!) but I feel like my body need nutrients, and just feel like drinking water and protein shakes is not healthy for weeks on end.

But yes, the fact that I'm going against my doctors plan makes me feel very guilty.

I'm 2 weeks post op today and still on the liquid diet.  I have another week of this and then the soft foods for 3 weeks.  So no real food until 6 weeks out.  I don't even really want to eat, but just taste something.  Like I'm giving my kids something, I just want to taste it.  But I refuse to give into temptation because the thought of damaging my new stomach scares me too much.  I'm still having issues getting in my protein shakes and water, so I'm a little worried about what they will say at my appointment today.  I'm trying my best but it hurts every time I take a drink.  And today I'm getting queasy.  I don't think this is a good sign for me, and definitely tells me I'm not ready for real food yet.

Food chewing will come soon in time. It is frustrating trust me I know. Try to talk to your doctor to see what he/she can recommend.

Good luck on your journey.
