Need advice

Hi everybody. Does anyone know if homemade beef drew shouldn't be ate. I had some for lunch today and got a little nervous because of the broth in it because I know we aren't supposed to drink with our meals. Does anyone have any advice.  But on a better note, I was 3 months post op yesterday, and have lost 57 pounds. Can't begin to tell you how much better I feel, can't wait for the next 50 to come off.

The advice I've read is that you have the broth first, then you eat the meat and vegetables after.

This is exactly what I do and it works well for me.

VSG: 06/24/15 // Age: 35 // Height: 5'10" // Lost so far: 190 lbs

I'm from the 'you can drink right up until the time you eat but not during or after eating' camp.  If I was faced with a bowl of stew, I would drink the liquid portion first, wait a minute or two, then eat the beef and lastly the veggies if I had any room left. And if I couldn't separate the liquids, I probably wouldn't eat it at all so soon after surgery.

I asked the same question in a post I made months ago before my surgery. The answers I got were varied: 1. Sure, why not? 2. Drink broth, then eat meat/veg. 3. Surgeon won't allow soup. 4. Thin soups -- no; thick stews -- yes. 

Since I love soup (of the clear broth variety, not cream soups), I went ahead and started eating them as soon as I was able after surgery. I never had any problem with them, whether I drank the broth first or ate broth and meat/veg. together. I can't tell you whether my experience is typical. However, do avoid chowders, bisques, and all other rich, creamy soups. They're loaded with fat and don't have the nutritional kick to make them worthwhile.

I ate a lot of soup and stew in the weight loss phase. With stew, I ate the protein first. With soup, I avoided rice and noodles but did not adhere to broth first.

I can't do soups, stews or chili unless I sip all the broth first and THEN eat the solids.  Otherwise, I can barely get in a few bites and I'm done and uncomfortable.
