So I'm on day 2 of my pre-op diet and I'M HUNGRY!  I keep thinking of the big picture but can anyone give me any advice on how to get thru this!  Pretty much I'm just complaining because I know you all understand! :)

Drink fluids and just hang on - it's so worth it!

Oh boy do I ever feel your pain!  My surgery was October 8th and I had to do a 2 week pre-op diet.  I remember it like it was yesterday! The pre-op diet was BY FAR the WORST part about this whole thing.  I really struggled through it and started struggling on day 2 as well.

All I can say is that you WILL make it through this.  Sleep as much as you can, drink a lot of water, and just try to keep your mind occupied so that you don't dwell on how hungry you are.  Also know that this IS the worst it will be.  Once you survive the pre-op diet, things only get better!

You can do this!!

it gets easier around day 4/5.. until then I napped often lol, I managed to make it through without harming anyone or needing bail money.

On the advice of my dietitian I tried to have at least 4 oz of protein every four hours and it helped.

Warm fluids helped me more than cold.

The first 3-4 days are the worst.  Hang in there and keep your eyes on the prize :D

I only had one week of pre-op liquids to get through. Two weeks appear to be the new trend for new VSGers. It's no fun to get through, especially since you don't have the sleeve or anything else to get you through it.

Like everyone said, the hunger eases somewhat after the first few days, and it gets easier, but it's still no fun, no fun at all. The only way I know of to get through it is to grit your teeth and muscle through it. It's critical that you stick to whatever pre-op diet your surgeon recommended.

It'll be 1-2 weeks of sheer willpower, but for the benefits you'll receive from the pre-op diet, it's well worth the effort. Good luck!

If you have a Pho resteraunt close by, gets some pho broth. Pho broth in the evening saved my sanity.

I had 4 weeks of it. Honestly if you buckle down and do not cheat, by the 4th or 5th day it gets easier.

Thanks everyone.  I have to do 3 weeks of it.  I'm on day 3, so I'm hoping today or tomorrow it starts getting a little easier :)

Thanks for all your support!
