Physics of Shrinky-dink Feets

Can someone explain how I went from a 7 1/2 length shoe to, now between halfway between 5 1/2 and 6 in length(because conforming to a standard size? That could never happen!)?

The bones are the same length, right? They couldn't have shrunk because of weight loss. And I never carried much weight in my feet before to account for what... a chubby heel? I don't know. They were never obviously chubby, just enough that you didn't see the bones popping out all over. Which, yes, is different now--bones pop out all over.

So how does this make sense?! My brain refuses to accept this.

(Just  like it still refuses to accept the number that the scale says. When I type it into MFP, I always start with a 3. Today it took 3 tries before I got the number in right.  I put 328 first. Then 283 when I realized it needed to start with a 2. But the actual weight? 238.2. Number scramble until my brain stops rebelling against it. I can't even blame this one on Rupert!)

High Weight 376, about a year before program. I gave up diet pop(and all pop), dropped 30 pounds without trying, and kept it off. Now convinced Carbonated Beverages. Are. Evil.

my shoe width went from wide to medium, but the length is still the same.  I've heard of the length shrinking for some people, though.  Odd but..it happens.

I'm with you on writing the first digit of my weight numbers wrong.  I started out in the 300's and am now 180.  I've caught myself more than a few times putting a "2" instead of a "1".

I had width shrinkage too, but that made sense to me! (Also glad for it! Tired of having Hobbit feet! You know, minus the hair...)

Congratulations on your weight loss success! Looking forward to having my brain refuse to start with a 1 too! :D

When shoes are tight, most people will go up a size rather than a width. I went from an 11 to a 10.  I still have absurdly long toes.  I didn't realize how much my weight pressing down made things spread out and not just with my feet.  Keep an eye on your ring size.  I went from an 11 to a 6!

I did that until about four years ago, wore 8 1/2w and mostly iin tennis shoes. But got my foot properly sized and switched to either 7 1/2 or 7 -- WideWide. Hence my confusion!

Hoping they continue to shrink width-wise, the 6W fits OK, but 7-reg fits width well. Tired of my feet sliding around iin my shoes. After a little while, the soles of your feet burn!

Yeah they do!  I have a couple of 11s left that I can't bear to get rid of and when I wear them it's pretty awful.  I hope your feet settle down soon!  :D

I can't even imagine trying to wear an 11! Do you feel like you're playing dress up in Mom's shoes in them? :) That's what I'm picturing--a couple inches of extra shoe past your heels!

Haha, not quite!  I have super long toes--my pinky toe is over an inch long where most people's is basically a vestigial nubbin.

You need to learn to do something with those suckers, like play piano!

I have stumpy Hobbit toes, and a dew claw... I mean tiny gnarled pinky toe.
