"Dr Price is extremely direct and I love that. He is very up front that this is NOT an easy fix and that your life will change COMPLETELY after this surgery. I call him the Tazmanian Devil because he is so busy. The day of my surgery he had one surgery before my 9am appt and he didn't finish his day until almost 11pm that night.
I have trouble getting callbacks from his nurse and when i was trying to get approved it was like pulling teeth to get to speak with someone, but they have many surgeons in that office. He is terrific so it was hard to get an appt to even get a consult. I called in Oct of 2001 to get my June 2002 consult and my surgery was not until the end of Jan 2003. You have to go through a lot to get to the surgery, support group meetings (very helpful), a class about your hospital stay, surgery, diet, many people (myself included)had sleep studies for sleep apnea, and many people are sent for psych evals. He was really clear that this is major surgery not to be taken lightly. People came into my hospital room just to look at my incision because he is so well regarded. The nursing instructor on the floor one day brought a lot of students it to look at the cut and it is amazingly straight and clean. I had 79 staples in it a week ago and now it is realy fading already and looks terrific. His surgical skills are well known, while waiting to go into surgery I met a nurse that was his seventh bypass sugery patient and that was incredible. If you need someone to sugar coat it all for you he is not your guy, if you can't take direct and to the point look elsewhere. I had issues with the hospital care but none of that had to do with Dr. Price."
