Hi All, I have wonderful news. I had my surgery on August 18,2003. The notice came quickly. I was called on Thursday for surgery on Monday. I had decided (that if THEY called) to wait until after I returned to work for a few weeks and then have the surgery. The call finally came the week before I was to return to school. It was then or reschedule through Michigan. It was so close and I was afraid after waiting so long. I decided to step out on faith and go for it. The surgery was a breeze. After I got home, I improved even more. I went for my two week check up on 9/2/03 and I had lost 28 lbs., down from 264 lbs. on my initial visit in May 2003. I am begining to see it in my hands more so than any where else. Thank you all for the prayers and support. I plan to start posting after pictures soon.

Hello Alice - Good luck on the extra testing on your calcium levels and <b>Congratulations</b> on your upcoming surgery date!   You'll find the changes that follow, nothing short of a miracle. For 20 years I prayed and hoped for a "second chance" in life to be healthier and thinner - I never thought I would get that chance, but I did, and now <u>so will you</u>.  My humble advice?  Walk as much as possible after surgery.  As your body begins to heal make sure to get in your protein, even if it means plugging your nose and chugging back the protein drinks in baby [pouch] gulps.  Vitamins need to be chopped, minced or crushed... whatever it takes to get them in daily, no exceptions, YOU are worth it.   Also, let's not forget your new best(est) friend, water.  It is SO important to get your minimum 64 oz in daily. One final thing, remember to <b>CELEBRATE</b> all the special moments along the way, big or small.  Too many people only focus on the <i>number</i>, ie. pounds lost.  There are so many "moments" to look forward to and embrace - don't let any of them slip by.   Enjoy your new healthier life, you've earned it!!   <i>"The key to happiness is dreams, the key to success is making those dreams come true"</i>  Hugs and smiles -

Thank you all for your good wishes and kind words. My surgery date has changed to I don't know when it will be. After my preadmission testing, the doctor found that I have a high level of calcium in my blood. Two additional tests have been done. I haven't heard the results of the 2nd test. I have not idea what high calcium level means or the immplications for my surgery. I am trying to wait patiently because I know this could be really important. Please keep me in your prayers. Alice
