Well gang - my one year anniversary - What a difference a year makes! I have done extremely well. I am down about 90 pounds - it fluctuates between 175 and 183 depending on what Ive done in the gym and what I eat. CHANGES: no more diabetes medicine, cholesterol medicine, blood pressure medicine. Love and sex life is great. Self confidence through the roof. Depression gone - where are we going tonight? Sleeping awesome. HOW I DID IT: FOLLOWED THE RULES. The staff at Dr. Sosa's after care program were a god send - from answering silly questions like "Am I going to die since I swallowed a piece of gum" to the outstanding food plans and expert advice on how to build the gams and guns -I couldnt have asked for more and I say thank you to all of them. FOOD STUFF: I am eating pretty well - pasta fills me very quickly but I can get half to three quaters of a tuna sandwich in for a meal. Sugar is out but I dont miss it. I now think about all the nutrients going in and how they will affect my living and body - this is the most remarkable change. EXERCISE: I go three to five days a week, building muscle in leaps and bounds - never felt as fit in my life. ALL IN ALL, I GOT MY LIFE BACK! This was the best thing I have ever done.

10 weeks post op and everything is teriffic. I've lost 58 pounds, diabetes has been gone for a long time. Eating almost everything but red meat and veggies. No dumping, only threw up four times so far if I ate too much or too fast - but thats a learning process. The biggest thing to the success of the gastric bypass I have found is to LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU. Eat exactly as you were told and everything will work the way its supposed to. Been working out tons - three times a week at least and the results are showing. As my weight wasnt super high to start out with, Ive got 37 pounds now to reach my goal of 170. This was the best decision in my life!

Well Im 7 days Post Op. Had my first weigh in with the nutristionist and Ive lost 23 pounds already. So thrilled. Pain is all but gone - just a little annoying tug where the staples are every once in a while. They come out tomorrow so that should go away too. Able to sleep on my side now which is a godsend. Migrated off clear liquids to full liquids yesterday - not hungry but a little empty weak feeling in the aftrernoon. Things will no doubt change once soft foods are started in a couple weeks.

Congratulations on making it to the losing side. I hope you have a speedy recovery. The pain is only temporary. God Bless.

I'm home!!! Surgery on 5/21. A lot of abdominal pain still but all was uneventful. Dr. Sosa was great, staff at Hialeah Hospital was fantastic. All is well. I'll update in a day or two when I feel a bit stronger.
