Hi Allee, I too, debated the issue of whether or not to come out of the closet with my surgery. I thought about intimating that it was "female" surgery.... people generally won't pry. But then, I thought, as I lose weight, people are going to think I'm really sick!!! Anyway, this woman at work told us she had a "stomach mass" and takes 6 weeks off. When she comes back she's going on and on about her stomach surgery and how it was like bypass and now she can't eat anything. Bottom line, no one believe she really has a mass in her stomach because we all knew they don't take Before and After pics when you have a stomach mass!!! So, when I decided to have surgery, I was very open with it... first I told my family, then my friends, and finally people at work. Everyone was so amazingly supportive... I was overwhelmed!! Everyone wants me to be healthy. So I would say, be open and honest and you just might be in for a surprise. Best to you. LapRny 1/30/03

Allee, there are ways to get your BP down pre-op so you can have your surgery. That will be one of the pleasant side effects of this surgery. Your blood pressure will go down, down, down. I was on 2-3 BP meds a day before surgery, around 8 weeks out- I was on none. My BP is running around 115/70. I can't remember when it was that low before. Congratulations on your approval. Nita E
