I Started this journey in September 05, after my doctor informed me that he was putting me on medication for diabetes. I decided that was the last straw and began my WLS quest. I decided to chose this option after previously losing 60 pounds then gaining it back after being diagnosed with a thyroid condition. After research doctors and choosing Dr. English, My Journey began. I was approved after the first letter to BCBS of MN . Being Jamaican, my weight was never an issue but as I got older, it became more of a feeling healthy issue rather than a looking good issue as I have always been confident and secure in who I am. I know that through Christ I can do anything and with GOD'S help I will be able to acheive my goal and maintain my weightloss for the rest of my life. I am living proof that not only does prayer change things, Prayer changes Everything.

I am 6 weeks out and just got back after my 6 week check up. I have lost 39 pounds. I am verrrry happy to be down by that much. I just need now to stay motivated and pump up my daily excercise routine. I am SOOO GRATEFUL for my wonderful husband Gene who has supported me in everything. He is always complimenting me on how great I look and telling me how much he loves me. He is truly a gift from GOD. He has truly been my "knight in shining armor"

8 weeks out, went to see my endocrinologist. I can cut my metoprolol dosage in half, but stay on the thyroid medication until further notice. He was really happy with my weight loss and every thing is improving. YEAHHHH ME!!!

12 Weeks out. Went to see Dr. English for my 3 month check up and he was thrilled by my progress. I was down to 256 lbs for a whopping 55 lbs lost. I have also joined curves and have been working out 3 times per week for 30 minutes each time. I am realy happy with the changes in my body. I am beginning to really appreciate the things that I could not do before, like getting up off the floor without help, or crossing my legs comfortably. Thank GOD for this wonderful tool. I just need now to keep an eye on my daily carb intake & try to keep it below 20 grams.

I have been alling off the wagon & not geting enough protein, water & too many carbs. I will not beat my self up. I will renew my commitment to my health, my welfare & my future. So far I am happy with my weightloss, but I think that I can do much better. I have a lot on my plate right now but I have to remember to put my health first. My husband I I will celebrate our 10th anniversary in June so I have to figure out a great way to celebrate it on a limited budget. I am sure I will figure something out.

I have been really busy with work and renvating my kitchen so I have been remiss in updating my blog. I saw Dr. English today for my 6 month check up and have lost a total of 80 pounds. I am really happy with my loss so far, but I think that I can lose more quickly if i cut back on my carbs. So I will renew my efforts. My Dr also told me that he was moving to Marquette, MI and he will not be able to tret me any more and l would need to see the other Dr in the practice. What a bummer!! He is the perfect doctor if there ever was one. I am really sorry to see him go, however I wish him all the best. My husband loves the "new" me. He has been nothing but wonderful and so supportive, I would not have been able to do this without him. I love my bubby.
