I have been overweight most of my life. When I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2008 I decided I needed to do something about it. I had tried to lose weight too many times to count, would be successful, and then it would all come back. I had my first appt with my surgeon, Dr. Robert Sass, on October 7, 2008 and weighed 260. I had my Lap RNY 12/8/08. I can't believe how much better I feel. Shortly after surgery I was on a pleateau, and thought "I didn't have this surgery to lose just 16 pounds." That lasted about 2 weeks, and when I finally started losing weight again, I realized that I had lost several inches. I was wearing Jeans with a tight 50" waist at the time of surgery. When the plateau was done, I was in a comfortable 42" waist. That taught me that even though I may hit a plateau, it is just my body adjusting. I have a cardiologist appt this week and am hoping he will tell me I don't need to come back for awhile.
