Wow did things move fast today. I am scheduled to see the pulmonologist Tuesday the 28th, I am having my abdominal ultrasound Thursday the 30th and my group gastric bypass education class Saturday the 1st.
I was so glad to get everything scheduled so quickly. Depending on what happens at my pulmonologist visit will determine if I have to have a sleep study, or see a cardiologist. Even though I don't think I have sleep apnea, I will do whatever they tell me to do so I can proceed with my RNY. I prefer to see a cardiologist regardless, since I have a naturally slow heart rate. The average is in the 70's to low 80's. Mine is consistently 55-62 at rest. I have had it checked out before and all seemed fine, but that was many years ago. I have also had 2 back surgeries, one of which I was on the table for 4 1/2 hours under anesthesia. My surgeon said my RNY should only take 45 minutes to an hour. But I just want to make sure my heart is ok even though it is slow.
My insurance girl seems to think I can be in surgery the week of November 17th. That would be perfect and I know time will fly and it will be here quick.

OMG..I cannot believe this. They finally approved me. I know it didn't really take that long, but I was afraid that they may deny me because I did not lose a lot of weight during my medical weight management. I guess I am lucky to have gotten approved on the first try. I hear so many horror stories of people fighting with insurance.
I hope to be in surgery with in the next 3-4 weeks. I am waiting on my next steps from the surgeon and they are waiting on the official approval letter from my insurance. Once I get it, I will take it to them personally. I know i will need to see a pulmonologist, and maybe a cardiologist, and I don't know if they will make me do a sleep study or not. I know I will need an UGI. I am so anxious, I just want to get started on these things and get them out of the way. I can't wait to join ev1 on the losers bench.
