It has been approximately one and a half years now since my procedure and I have lost over 100 lbs. I have been able to maintain my weight loss and have been told that I am at the point where my body has determined it's "comfort zone". I feel great and now wear a size 12/14 (quite a difference since I wore size 22/24 prior to my surgery in July 2003.) Although I have occasionally wished to weigh about 20 lbs. less, I am now at a point in my life where I actually feel comfortable in my own skin (I haven't decided on the plastic surgery part of this weight loss as of yet...will let you all know when and if I do!!!)

Yes, it's been a little over one year since I made one of the most significant decisions in my life. I'm approximately 97 lbs. lighter than I was a year ago. Much in my life has changed. Not only my body size but my health has greatly improved. No longer do I take four blood pressure medications daily (am now down to one and by the end of the year, my physician has advised me that I may be off that as well), my cholesterol medication has dropped from a 40 mg "horse pill" to 10 mg daily (another med that I may have to no longer take by year's end). I am very grateful for the support of this website along with the support of my bariatric surgeon and his office staff. I have made a few bad decisions in my life, but can honestly say, this was one of the best one's I've ever made and am quite grateful I did. Hoping to lose at least 13 more lbs. until I reach my "goal" weight, but if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't...well, all I can say is the last time I saw a size 14, I was in grade school. I'm very content. Promise to stop in again in the future and keep you posted. Thanks to all of you for your support, encouragement, prayers and most of all, your strength to help me do this. Warmest regards to all...Ann Clarke

Well, here goes....six month mark and I'm down 85 lbs. Am I thrilled? Absolutely! A little suprised that it's only 5 lbs. less in one month, but I'll gladly take it! Still feeling a bit 'anxious' about being able to eat more than I could four months ago and need to get hitched with a support group. I haven't been able to hook up anyone close by that's been through this experience, but hey, I have faith! Still on the 'losing side' and hoping to lose about 30 more lbs. At 165? I'd be quite happy! Will keep you posted! :)

Well, as I'm coming up to the 5th month mark since my surgery, I've lost close to 80 lbs. I would be lying if I said that I'm beginning to get a bit freaked out that it's coming off much more slower than before and I'm starting to get nervous as I'm beginning to eat more in quantity whereas I could not before. So, I'm wondering...Does the weight come off each person differently? Has anyone else plateued and having difficulty losing any additional weight? I have always been over 200 + lbs. and I do so hope that I will see (very soon I hope) that the scale no longer says "207", but more like 177. Is anyone else having this kinda problem? Any suggestions of how to return to the high volume of weight loss as I've experienced previously? Your answers/suggestions and feedback are most welcome. Wishing everyone a very happy, blessed and warm New Year! AnnMarie Clarke

Well, it's now been approximately 10 weeks since my surgery and I have lost close to 60 lbs. so far. My health has improved significantly and I'm having a hard time seeing "what other people see". I am down three pant sizes, but have kept some of my clothes that I wore prior to the surgery. (Don't ask why, I guess it's just from being so overweight for most of my life). I truly do feel wonderful and am making slow, but steady progress adjusting to this "new lifestyle". Psychologically, it really hasn't "HIT" me yet (regarding the weight loss), but I've been told that that will come. I apologize for not keeping fellow A.M.O.S. brothers and sisters updated on my recovery. It's been hectic and busy since going back to work. I promise I will try and do better with updates. I am hoping to lose at least another 65-70 lbs. before I feel I am at my best weight. Hoping all of you who are "on the losing side", considering it or just curious about it, are doing well. Smiles....A. Clarke

It has now been approximately three weeks since my surgery and I've lost close to 30 lbs. It's taking me off guard because others are noticing but I still see me as I did pre-op. Feeling wonderful, still walking as much as possible and returned to work yesterday. I felt strong enough to return after 3 1/2 weeks post op. Four week check up is coming up on 8/29/03 and I'll drop a few more lines after that. Thank you everyone for your continuous support and also, I appreciate those reaching out to ask questions and make inquiries. Have faith, take a deep breath and relax. The procedure was not as frightening as it appears! Honest! :)

~*~I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.
