My journey....so far!

Apr 05, 2010

Hi everyone!

It has been just over a year since my first surgery, and I'm down 62lbs!! If you would have told me a year ago I would be wearing a size 10 I would have laughed! But here Iam, but still have a little more to lose. My goal is not really a number so much but a pant size, 8 is what I would like to end up at!

As most of you know I started out with the lap band, for me that was a bad mistake. My body rejected it and I had to have it taken out at 9 months. At that time I revized to the sleeve, and I could not be happier!! The sleeve is so much easier, no sliming or PB'ing!! With the sleeve I have been able to eat any and all foods, I have not found anything that bothers my new tummy. I have tried just about every food out there. For anyone considering the sleeve...GO for it!

Good luck to all of you, pre and post ops!

A little about me.

Feb 22, 2009

Hi again

Just a little about me and why Im here...well first of all Im overweight, Not obese by some standards but definatly need to get a handle on it before it gets any worse. I did not battle my weight when I was young like alot of the people that will read this, I battled just to have food to eat. Im sorry if this is harsh but it is part of my "therapy" to work out my reasons for being overweight. Im the youngest of 7 kids with 2 alcoholic parents living in a 2 bedroom home. There was never enough food, space, attention etc. The problem with my weight and all of my siblings did not really start until later in our lives. Most people when they get a big paycheck think of the new clothes they will buy, I think of the food. Another reason is that Im not doing any sports anymore. I was very athletic up until I turned 40, still playing on 4 softball teams at a time. I loved team sports and enjoyed the competition.

Thanks for taking the time to read about me!!   I hope to mke some new internet friends to share my journey with, feel free to write to me i will get back to you as soon as I can.

FAB BY 50

Feb 18, 2009

Hi everyone

I turned 49 in January and decided that by 50 I would have my weight under control once and for all. I have been battling the bulge for about 14 years. I have been thin and then whithin a few years Im right back to my 200+ weight. I have 3 family members who have all had the lap band and have had success. Im looking forward to getting into NORMAL size clothes again. Bernadette
