After nearly 2 years of working toward this...

May 01, 2009

I finally finished my required 6 months of diet/counseling classes that Kaiser Permanente (my HMO) had me attend. I was really peeved about it at first, but now, looking back...I have to say it was definitely in my best interest! I am not only informed, but EDUCATED, in this life altering change I have decided to have.  I know what to expect, already storing up my protein reserves, vitamins, everything! My pantry is even ready for my new diet! I am a little nervous, the gal that will give my scheduled date for surgery is supposed to call me TODAY!! So it is real. My surgeon, Dr. Zorn, she said he has some openings this week, so it could be this next week!!! OMG!
Today is my anniversary, 16 years with this gem of a man! He has loved me at every size and is a little concerned that i will lose my boobs and butt! LOL but otherwise, 2 years of nagging him, he is finally supporting me in this! He is a thin person that has never ever had a weight problem and thinks that all I really have to do is exercise/run and I will lose all of the weight i want! I have osteoarthritis in both knees and 85% cartilage loss in my left knee and about 50% in my right. My knees and ankles pop for about 20 minutes when I first get up in the morning...carrying this 239lbs on my 5'4" frame is killing my knees and ankles.  I don't think running is the answer for me....but regardless, i thank him for his concern, love and skinny gene he passed on to my kids.  I pray they never lose that metabolism, it is hard being the heavy mom in a thin family...they have so much more energy than me!! :)  BUT, i am excited, nervous, and READY!  Keep me in prayer!
