Holly Meyer
Hello everyone! My name is Holly and I am 33 years old. I have a wonderful ten year old son named Donovan and a spoiled 5 year old Shi-tsu named Buster. I am a very busy person. I teach Preschool during the day and go to grad school at night. My son loves to play football, basketball, and baseball. So, needless to say, there is never a dull moment
I have been overweight most of my adult life. I am 5 ft 10 inches tall and weigh 350 lbs. Some people say "Oh your just big boned." Really people, you don't have to say that--I am built from a bigger frame than most--but thats not where the weight is coming from. I know I have read some of your stories on here--and I can totally relate. I, too, have always been told "Oh, you have such a pretty face." Or, "You would be so hot if you would just lose weight." Some people just don't understand that those comments feel like a knife entering the chest. Ok, so, if I just have a pretty face, that means that the rest of me is pretty messed up, right? Anyway, I have been considering bariatric surgery for a long time. I have been a yo-yo dieter for years. I would lose, gain, lose, gain. I want to be healthier and happier and am ready to have surgery
I will have my surgery at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. I attended a seminar there led by Dr. Olson. He was very knowledgable and the meeting was very informative. I have attended a support group, passed a psych evaluation, sent medical records, and obtained the physician letter of support. The only thing now that I am waiting on is the 6 months of medically supervised weight loss diet documentation to go by. I started going to the doctor in January, so, in June I should be finished with that. I was hoping to have the surgery in June so I would have the summer to heal and adjust to the new way of life before returning to work at the end of July. I go for my next Dr appt on March 14th. I will keep you informed on my progress.
