Hello I am justin. i'm 34 and have struggled with obeseity my whole life. Was obese as a teen and would try deperate ways to lose weight like starving myself for weeks on end..always obsessed with the scale. Losing weight always, but then always gaining it back when i begun to eat again. Until about 2003-2004 when i went on the Atkins diet and lost about 89lbs in 9 months. Going from 340lbs to 251lbs. 251 was not my goal weight but i decided to "reward" myself and have a cheat day. Well that cheat day last about...Well actually now its pretty wishy washy! I used to know this story like i knew my name but its been so long now I barely remember it lol. But pretty much i gained weight and never really got back to my lowest weight in my adult life which was 251lbs.

I would go on to try other diets through out the years. Results were usually all the same..Lose 40..gain 40..sometimes gain more...and repeat. My highest weight in my adult life was 430lbs. Which was about 2012. Around that time i actually was diagnosed with binge eating disorder. I entered a eating disorder treatment center around 2013. It was partial inpatient, meaning i went there for 7 hours a day and ate 2 meals there. I learned alot of things there but unfortunately my insurance would only pay for 6 weeks. So when i went home i fell back into old habits. Which lead me to the first time i tried to get weight loss surgery in 2014. I came very close to getting it but my therapist i was seeing would not give me the OK for surgery. So i left the program.

Which then lead me to getting diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. At first i lost a ton of weight from the diabetes...I was drinking like a fish and peeing every 15mins. I went from about 410 to about 380. Then I was put on diabetes meds and pretty much gained back the weight i had lost. Which i didnt like so i would take myself off my diabetes meds like every 6 months to lose weight from Diabetic Ketoacidosis. And I have pretty much been doing that for the past 5 years until i got serious about my health and begun taking my diabetes meds. Making the decision to get Weight loss surgery back in sept. 2018 when i had a health scare. I went to a heart doctor thinking there might be something wrong with my heart do to a problem i was having with sleeping. and the doctor pretty much said its my sleep apnea and to get weight loss surgery. That was the wakeup call i needed. I am now 1 week away from my consultation with the bariatric surgeon.
