Soft foods starting on Wednesday
Dec 31, 2007
I am really getting sick and tired of the liquid diet. Can't wait to see what is on the soft food diet when I see the dietician on Wednesday. I hope I can tolerate it!
Surgery
Dec 28, 2007
My journey started on Monday, Dec. 17, with having an IVC (blood clot) filter put in place. It was a quick procedure, but had to stay at the hospital for 4 hours after the procedure to make sure everything was going smoothly.
Tuesday, Dec. 18, was my RNY. The surgery went well, no complications and I slept most of the remainder of the day. Wednesday I went home in the early afternoon, but was back at the hospital by midnight that night as I felt like nothing was moving thru in my stomach and couldn't even drink. They said I had an Ileus, which I found out was a blockage, or as my dr told me my system hadn't woken up yet and my food was going nowhere. I was readmitted back into the hospital that night and didn't have anything to eat or drink for another 24hrs til they knew things were moving. I was finally able to have something to drink Thursday night and was able to have a Carnation Instant Breakfast drink Friday night. I was released Saturday afternoon, feeling ALOT better than the last time I left.
Sunday morning I ended up back in ER, with I'm told was a Seroma(a fluid filled sac) in my stomach burst and it was draining from the incision in my belly button.
Today is Friday, had a checkup with Dr Baker and am now doing well. Even with all my problems I would do this again. I'm not regretting my decision to have this surgery at all.
