Cinda, Well, I am excited and thrilled about the surgery and not really scared about complications. I have a great surgeon and have lots of confidence in him and his staff. However, there is a recent feeling of dread -- like I want to surround myself in prayer. I don't know hether this is part of the mourning process that goes on before hand or not, but it is unconfortable. I found someone else who was having the surgery with the same surgeon and hospital. I went to see her the evening of her surgery and she was sore but doing very well. That helped me know what to expect as well. I also have met with the nutritionist and have some idea of what to expect but I'm sure it will be different than what I expect when it happens for real. Have you tried any protein drinks yet? I hope I find some I like so I know what to get after surgery. There is a Staple Club that meets at Fair Oaks Hospital every month. I also have a friend who did have a DS in Maryland. Good luck.
